WHEELING — Oglebay welcomes the return of WinterFest this weekend.
On Saturday, Jan. 25, the public is invited to come out to Schenk Lake at 1 p.m. for the thrilling Polar Plunge, where brave souls will take a freezing dip to support the Special Olympics of West Virginia.
Participants are encouraged to dress up in their favorite costumes for a chance to win the costume contest.
Following the Polar Plunge, guests can make their way to the Nutting Winter Sports Complex for ice carving demonstrations, skiing and snowboarding.
Visit animals at the Oglebay Good Zoo from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and cap off the day at the WinterFest Party at Oglebay’s Pine Room at 8 p.m., featuring the energetic band Zack Attack.
“We always have a blast at WinterFest, and this year looks to be no exception with great activities,” Special Events Director Andy Brown said.
Don’t forget to swing by the Hickman Lounge at Wilson Lodge between 7-10 p.m. on Friday for live music, drinks and entertainment.
Then, at 9 p.m., unwind as you watch Warren Miller’s documentary, “Timeless.”
For those looking to extend their WinterFest experience, overnight packages are available at Oglebay’s newly renovated Wilson Lodge.
Guests staying at the lodge will enjoy breakfast each morning and free admission to winter park activities, including skiing at Oglebay’s Winter Sports Complex, admission to the Good Zoo, and ice skating at Wheeling Park.
Exclusive programming such as trivia, family bingo movie nights, and more will also be available.
Don’t miss out on the winter fun at Oglebay’s WinterFest.
