Calcified will take place on Saturday, Sept. 6, at the Capitol Theatre Ballroom at 1015 Main St., Wheeling. Doors open at noon. Music will kick off at 1 p.m. and wrap up around 9 p.m. Eleven bands from the Ohio Valley, Cleveland, Columbus, Pittsburgh, North Carolina, Rochester (New York) and throughout West Virginia will be performing throughout the day, providing hours of live, heavy music. The lineup features two returning acts from Calcified’s first year (2024) — Bolt Action and last year’s headliners, fallfiftyfeet. Branching out into sludge, doom and the heavy psych territory, this year’s lineup will include Brainwash Victim, Fuzzfiend and Pillars as well as a touch of black metal with Woodsguard. Ghost Home, …by the deed, Samarra and Nervous Aggression will round out the hardcore genre and its sub-genres, and rotting in dirt from North Carolina will wrap things up as the headliner this year.
Food and drinks will be available at the bar in the Capitol Ballroom and at the restaurants surrounding the venue.

Hardcore music is a sub-genre of punk rock known for fast tempos, community spirit and energetic performances. It originated in the late 1970s and early 1980s, primarily in the United States in Los Angeles and Washington D.C. Legendary bands like Black Flag, Minor Threat, and Bad Brains were some of the first hardcore bands. Over the years, it has evolved into various sub-genres like post-hardcore and metalcore.
Calcified Music Festival caters to fans of hardcore and other styles of heavy music, as well as those who might simply be curious about the genre.
