WHEELING — Mystery Theatre Unlimited opens its milestone 30th season with the premiere of Harry 4Gotter and the Pantry of the Secret Sauces, a musical comedy parody written by Dustin Heavilin.

This interactive dinner-theatre mystery, filled with outrageous characters, music and food-related puns, makes its debut at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 11, at River City Restaurant, 1401 Main St., in Wheeling.

Reservations are available by calling 304-233-4555 or visiting MysteryTheatreUnlimited.com.

Set in the quirky Hogwash School for Whizzers of Mystery, students attend night classes in the Great Bingo Hall — until the powerful Geezer Wand disappears and rumors spread that “He Who Mustn’t Be Eaten” has returned. Chaos and comedy collide as guests, cast as Hogwash students, work to solve the mystery while enjoying dinner and live performance.

The show brims with colorful characters: Professor Artichoke Pretzel Watercress Broccoli Dumpling-Door, an aging hippie headmaster whose greatest mystery is where he’ll be whizzing next (played by Heavilin); the sweetly sadistic Delirious Drawbridge, “The Saccharine Menace” (Micah Underwood); the scheming Professor Scapegoat (Sean Decker); the explosive Bag-o-Ticks Upstage (Renee Storm); and the villainous Vulgar Pork (Butch Maxwell), who plans to unleash the Dark Recipe to make everything taste like chicken.

Following the Wheeling premiere, Harry 4Gotter will travel to Steubenville for back-to-back shows at 6 p.m. on Oct. 3-4 at Scaffidi’s Restaurant and Tavern. It returns to River City Restaurant on Oct. 9 and Nov. 13, with both shows kicking off at 6:30 p.m.

Since 1996, Mystery Theatre Unlimited has entertained Ohio Valley audiences with original interactive productions blending parody, audience participation, musical comedy and mystery solving.

With Harry 4Gotter, the troupe once again promises an evening of laughs, magical mayhem and memorable moments for all ages.
