WELLSBURG — The historic Brooke Hills Playhouse is thrilled to kick off its 55th anniversary season with the hilarious, heart-filled Southern comedy, “The Second-to-Last Chance Ladies League,” which is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of Dramatists Play Service. Opening night is today, June 5, promising the Ohio Valley an evening of laughter, resilience and the power of female friendship.

Written by the masters of Southern comedy — Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope and Jamie Wooten — and under the direction of Bill Deerfield, this delightful sequel to “Always a Bridesmaid” catches up with four lifelong friends: Libby Ruth (Heather Deerfield), Deedra (Sheila Cavalette), Monette (Emily Hores) and Charlie (Teresa Torlone). When the women trade in their bridesmaid dresses to rescue their favorite local wedding venue, they are plunged into a year of hilarious, high-stakes event planning, wacky memorial services and everything in between.

Performances will run over three consecutive weekends: June 5-7, June 12-14 and June 19-21.

All standard evening performances on Fridays and Saturdays begin at 8 p.m., with Sunday matinees at 2 p.m.

Tickets are on sale now. Patrons are encouraged to beat the rush and secure seats by visiting www.brookehillsplayhouse.org. Patrons can also purchase a 2026 Season Flex Pass online or call the box office at 304-737-3344 for reservations and additional information.
