MOUNDSVILLE – The Missoula Children’s Theatre Company returns to the Strand Theatre next week on June 22-26 offering a free acting workshop for children who have completed kindergarten-age 18. During the week, participants will be immersed in many aspects related to the production of a live stage show, culminating with a public performance.

Those interested will pre-register online beginning on May 1 at www.strandtheatrewv.com/events. If spots are still available, on-site registration will also be open prior to auditions. Pre-registrants and on-site registrants will audition 10 a.m. to noon on Monday, June 22. All participants will audition. No advance preparation is necessary. Those auditioning should arrive at 9:30 a.m. and plan to stay until noon. Some of the cast members will be asked to stay for a rehearsal immediately following the audition.

The Missoula Children’s Theatre touring productions are complete with costumes, scenery, props and makeup. The MCT Tour actors and directors will conduct rehearsals throughout the week from 10 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. each day. One public performance of “The Wiz of the West” will be presented at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 27, at the Strand Theatre.

There is no cost to participate, but several additional enrichment workshops will be offered after daily rehearsals conclude. These workshops will immerse participants in more specific theatrical skills for a nominal fee. Workshop participation is not limited to the production cast. All are welcome.

In addition to the free, week-long workshop, three specialized enrichment classes will be offered for $10 each to students who have finished kindergarten-12th grade. These specialized sessions are open to anyone interested-attendees need not be participating in the Missoula week-long workshop and production. Register and pay on the day of the workshop. Choose one or all three: Tuesday, June 23, acting class; Wednesday, June 24, improv class; and Thursday, June 25, mime class.
