Parcel Players’ Presentation of ‘Guys and Dolls’ Continues This Weekend

WHEELING -- Oglebay Institute's Parcel Players will bring the colorful characters, memorable music and lively comedy of "Guys and Dolls" to Towngate Theatre.

The presentation kicked off Thursday night and continues with shows each day this weekend through Sunday.

Parcel Players is Oglebay Institute's summer theatre program for students ages 13-21. The annual program gives young performers and theatre technicians opportunities to develop their skills in acting, directing, choreography, set design, costumes, lighting and other areas of theatrical production.

Set in a mythical version of New York City, "Guys and Dolls" follows gamblers, showgirls and mission workers whose lives become entangled through romance and a high-stakes bet. The classic musical comedy features music and lyrics by Frank Loesser and a book by Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows. Audiences will recognize favorite songs including "Luck Be a Lady" and "Sit Down, You're Rockin' the Boat."

The production is directed and choreographed by Erin Gallagher Bond. Featured performers include McKenna Everson as Sarah Brown, Austin Schwanker as Sky Masterson, Chloe Patt as Miss Adelaide and Jacob Boyette as Nathan Detroit. Josie Figaretti appears as Nicely-Nicely Johnson, with Keyuri Morgan as Benny Southstreet and Alex Fabrizio as Arvide Abernathy.

The Saturday, Aug. 8 performance will feature an alternate group of lead performers, including Addison Hutson as Sarah, Zack Kuttie as Sky, Flannery Muscar as Adelaide and JJ Brown as Nathan.

Performances begin at 7 p.m. today, Friday, Aug. 7, and Saturday, Aug. 8, with a 3 p.m. matinee on Sunday, Aug. 9.
