WEIRTON - The Ohio Valley Cloak & Dagger Company presents A Tell-Tale Halloween, an evening of dramatic readings of Edgar Allan Poe's most famous short stories and poems, at 8 p.m. and midnight this Saturday, Oct. 31, at the Top of West Virginia Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Actor Pete Fernbaugh portrays the legendary author.

"Back in July, I was asked by Christina Fisanick to portray Edgar Allan Poe for the Wheeling Writers Roundup at the Wheeling Arts Festival," Fernbaugh said. "It was one of the best experiences of my career. Portraying Poe for a one-man show on Halloween night struck me as the kind of acting challenge I actively seek out and also as appropriate for the season."

The 75-minute production will feature dramatic readings of "The Raven," "The Tell-Tale Heart," "The Masque of the Red Death," "Annabel Lee" and other selections. Alongside the readings, A Tell-Tale Halloween will also include anecdotes and insights about Poe's life and times.

"A Tell-Tale Halloween is a minimalist production, with just a chair, a podium and ambient lighting," Fernbaugh said. "In many ways, it's an homage to the dramatic readings Poe gave in various cities during his lifetime, and thankfully, the space lends itself to this kind of an intimate theatrical experience."

Tickets for A Tell-Tale Halloween are $7 per person and can be purchased at the door. No reservations are needed. A Tell-Tale Halloween will be performed at 8 p.m. (doors open at 7:30 p.m.) and again at midnight (doors open at 11:30 p.m.) in the art gallery at the Top of West Virginia Convention & Visitors Bureau. Top of WV CVB is located at 243 Three Springs Drive, Suite 17, in Weirton, W.Va., behind Crazy Mexican, next to Weirton Pet Spa, and across the parking lot from Bistro 303 Prime Cuisine.

"I'm grateful to Rachel Keeney, Sarah Cale Doughty and all the good folks at Top of WV for being open to creative endeavors like A Tell-Tale Halloween," Fernbaugh said.
