WHEELING - Artworks is pleased to host the annual Plein Air Paint Out once again. This year promises to be another great adventure that brings artists together whose passion is painting in the great outdoors.
The Opening Reception to celebrate our artists will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 11, in the Gallery at Artworks. This is a free event and the public is welcome to attend.
Eric Dye and Janet Sheehan have been working on this year's event for months. They have selected three areas of interest for artists. Oglebay Park, Epworth Park and the greater Wheeling area will find painters with their easels making art for a three-day period.
Dye has worked with local schools in promoting the event and almost one hundred students from Marshall County and Linsly will participate and will have their paintings displayed in the Student Gallery for the month or October.
At the end of the paint out, cash awards and ribbons will be presented and refreshments served at Sunday’s reception. Nationally recognized artist Cecy Rose is this year’s judge. Painters will exhibit their works all month in the Studio Gallery, and many of the pieces will be for sale.
Artworks is a nonprofit fine art organization dedicated to providing educational programming for the community. Artworks is located in the Historic Centre Market in Wheeling. Hours are 10 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Workshops are offered on an ongoing basis and for special projects throughout the year.
