Karen Corona Merritt announces the marriage of her daughter, Gretchen Danielle Corona, to Takeru Abe.
The wedding took place in a civil ceremony in Tokyo, Japan, on March 13, 2022.
The bride is the daughter of Karen Corona Merritt of Morgantown, and Robert Corona of East Elmhurst, New York. She is the granddaughter of Mary K. Schlosser and the late Thomas W. Schlosser of Wheeling, and the late Luzdovina and Silverio Corona of Queens, New York.
The groom is the son of Mayumi and Noboru Abe of Tokyo, Japan. He is the grandson of Shigeo and Hiroko Tsukada of Tokyo, Japan.
Gretchen graduated from Wheeling Central Catholic High School in 2011 and from West Virginia University in 2016. Her major was theater.
Takeru graduated from Toyotama High School in Tokyo and studied Biochemistry at West Virginia University. He is continuing his studies in Japan.
Gretchen is employed by Model Language Studio Teachers as a drama method English teacher in Tokyo. Takeru is employed by the Japan Post Office in Tokyo.
The couple is planning a wedding reception with family and friends at a future date. They reside in Tokyo, Japan.
