Ultra-soft carpeting that doesn’t stain and cleans easily is now available in Wheeling.
Carpet Showcase Flooring Center in South Wheeling is now selling Mohawk SmartStrand Silk carpeting, a premium soft carpet with built-in stain and soil protection that lasts the life of the product. It comes in a variety of textures, patterns and colors.
SmartStrand Silk is also good for the environment. While most carpeting is made of petroleum-based ingredients, the SmartStrand product is comprised of renewable plant-based ingredients.
The introduction of SmartStrand Silk creates an entirely new category of luxury carpets, said Michael Contraguerro Sr., owner of Carpet Showcase.
“Achieving the soft luxurious feel requires a new yarn with three times the amount of finely refined fibers found in ordinary soft nylon carpets,” he said. “Amazingly, each yarn contains more than 700 luxuriously soft, silk-like fibers.”
The breakthrough in soft carpet can only be achieved with SmartStrand Silk due to the “elastic recovery” built into the fibers, said Michael Contraguerro Jr., vice president of the commercial division.
“This inherent bounceback means that SmartStrand Silk resists and deflects crushing at a level of softness well beyond traditional polyester or nylon,” he said. “Not only is SmartStrand Silk the softest carpet on the market, but it permanently resists staining and soiling so it retains it natural beauty.”
SmartStrand Silk is the only carpet that contains permanent built in soil and stain protection that never wears or washes off and cleans with just water or a mild detergent.
The soil and stain protection on all other carpets is temporary and has to be reapplied over time.
“In fact, in an independent study nylon carpets lost an average of nearly 50 percent of their stain and soil protection after just three steam cleaning,” said David Contraguerro, vice president of Carpet Showcase’s residential division. “That’s why other carpets become difficult to keep clean over time. Smartstrand Silk eliminates this problem so you can enjoy 100 percent protection for life.”
SmartStrand Silk comes with lifetime coverage for stain and soil resistance, pets and static.
“There is no other carpet like SmartStrand Silk,” said Michael Contraguerro Sr. “We’ve seen Mohawk put this carpet through many challenges. They even installed it in the cage of a black rhino at the Birmingham Zoo. After two weeks of abuse, I didn’t believe it would come clean, but it did and it looked like new.”
