Seven-Year-Old Twins’ Lemonade Stand Benefits Flood Victims in Wheeling

Seven-year-old twins Luchia and Dominic Fato opened their first-ever lemonade stand Thursday.
But they decided not to keep their earnings for themselves. Instead, they will donate them to nearby flood victims in McMechen.
In about four hours, the stand had brought in more than $200, which they will hand deliver to officials at the McMechen City Building today. McMechen experienced a sudden, destructive flash flood last week, and many in the community are still undergoing cleanup efforts.
"We wanted to do something nice for other people," Luchia said of their donation. "We're very lucky we didn't get flooded."
Luchia and Dominic stood along Hubbard Drive in Dimmydale as passing cars pulled up and purchased drinks. Their efforts likely were aided by heavier-than-normal traffic with Youth Services System's annual Celebrate Youth festival taking place at nearby Wheeling Park.
The twins' babysitter, Emily Armstrong, assisted them by holding up a sign to advertise the business. The twins prepared the drinks all by themselves, their grandparents said.
Luchia and Dominic were appreciative of the public's support of their venture.
"It means very much because it means that people like our lemonade, and that they want to help other people, too," Luchia said.
She added they were both very thankful for everybody who stopped by.
