Ohio County Schools Holds “TIP” Graduation
The Ohio County Schools Teacher Induction Program, or TIP, seeks to provide beginning educators with the classroom skills they need today and give them a head start on the cutting-edge instruction they’ll implement in the future.
Ohio County Schools held its TIP graduation Tuesday at Wheeling Park High School ,where 18 educators were recognized for completing the program. TIP is designed to give first, second and third-year teachers the information and tools needed to be effective in the face of educational challenges.
The program introduces the teachers to research-based strategies for increasing student achievement and for reaching all learners. The participants engage in discussions about classroom management and content standards and objectives. The teachers gain a better understanding of their role in school accountability as well as their personal impact on students.
Ohio County Schools Human Resources Director Susan Nolte welcomed the TIP graduates, and she congratulated them for their accomplishment. Ritchie Elementary School teacher and 2018-19 Ohio County Schools Teacher of the Year Suzy Miller was the guest speaker. Ohio County Schools Student Services Director Raquel McLeod gave the closing remarks.
The Ohio County Schools Teacher Induction Program, which was established by Dr. Mary Marockie in the mid-1970s, is in compliance with West Virginia Department of Education policies and West Virginia state codes.
The 2019 TIP graduates were Rebecca Beabout, Olivia Blazer, Lindsey Bowman, Joshua Colvin, Meri Cummings, Sarah Fisher, Samantha Gentle, Andrea Graham, Chelsea Jorden, Jack Kaniecki, Ana Klemm, Cameron Koehler, Ashlea Kuca, Amber Loew, Martina Norman, Alexis Roeder, Erin Triveri and Danny Whitlash.
