WASHINGTON, Pa. - Washington Health System recently announced that WHS Washington Hospital has received recognition for excellence in patient safety by the Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania.
HAP is a leading voice for the health community of Pennsylvania.
As a member of the association, WHS, along with other members, aim to help Pennsylvania improve health outcomes while providing cost-effective care.
The HAP Excellence in Patient Safety Recognition program supports the continued improvement of quality and patient safety among Pennsylvania hospitals by recognizing Pennsylvania's top performing hospitals that have reduced health care-associated infections.
Utilizing data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's National Healthcare Safety Network, this program identifies and recognizes those member hospitals that perform better than the mean standardized infection ratio across Pennsylvania in three key measures: central line-associated bloodstream infection; catheter-associated urinary tract infection; and clostridium difficile infection.
The recognition program also identifies best practices that can be shared among all hospitals.
This year, 24 hospitals were acknowledged for this achievement during the HAP's Quality, Patient Safety, and Sepsis Symposium in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
Dr. John Six, vice president of medical affairs and chief quality officer for Washington Health System, attended this event on behalf of WHS.
