Pedestrian Struck by Vehicle in Martins Ferry

MARTINS FERRY - A woman was cited and fined after a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on News Year's Day near the Subway restaurant in Martins Ferry.
According to city Police Chief John McFarland, the incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at the corner of Fourth and Hanover streets.
"A person was coming from the intersection, making a turn to travel west on Hanover Street and did not see the pedestrian and struck them with the vehicle," he said.
The male pedestrian was transported to Wheeling Hospital for treatment following the incident.
"The injuries are non-life threatening," McFarland said.
The identity of the victim has not yet been released by police. McFarland did say the vehicle that hit the pedestrian was a car.
The female driver of the car was cited for failure to yield to a pedestrian, he said. According to police reports, the driver was 47-year-old Anissa Jo Picard of Martins Ferry.
She was fined $124 for the incident.
