Wheeling Hospital’s Off-site COVID-19 Testing Location Adjusts Hours
As of Thursday afternoon, 2,006 people have been tested at the Wheeling Park location, which opened March 18.
WHEELING – Wheeling Hospital’s off-site COVID-19 Testing Center is adjusting its hours beginning next week.
The drive-thru testing site at Wheeling Park, which has conducted more swab tests than any other site in West Virginia, will now be open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.
As of Thursday afternoon, 2,006 people have been tested at the location, which opened March 18, hospital officials said. The testing site previously operated from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
The regional center handles patients from all of the area’s hospitals in the WVU Medicine System including Harrison Community, Reynolds Memorial, Barnesville and Wetzel Community. A similar site opened April 2 in the parking lot of Reynolds Memorial Hospital in Glen Dale.
The testing is not for the general public.
Only at-risk patients who have a valid order from a physician will be tested. Those who want to be tested should call the hospital’s COVID-19 phone number at 304-221-3995.
Nurse navigators will triage the patient over the phone. If it is determined through the call that the patient is symptomatic, that person’s name will be sent to the Testing Center and the order entered into the computer list.
