The Linsly School Celebrates 206th Commencement

The Linsly School will graduate 78 seniors when it celebrates its 206th commencement this weekend.
The event is set for 9 a.m. Saturday, July 25 at 9 a.m. at Lockhart Stadium and Fawcett Field.
Special guests expected to be in attendance are John Holloway, chairman of the Linsly Board of Trustees, who will assist in the presentation of diplomas, and faculty member John Martin is scheduled to deliver the invocation and benediction for the ceremony.
During the outdoor ceremony, all graduates, faculty and guests are urged to maintain social distancing protocols as mandated by the state and local and federal health officials.
Linsly was given the authority by the Ohio County Health Department to hold the graduation ceremony.
All Linsly graduates and faculty attending the ceremony are required to wear masks, seating arrangements are spaced more than six feet apart, guests are limited to immediate family only, and no physical contact such as handshaking or hugging is permitted during the ceremony.
Ziyi “Sophie” Yang, daughter of Jinghai Yang and Hongmeil Li, from Harbin, China, was named valedictorian of the senior class of 2020 for having the highest upper school cumulative grade point average in the senior class. She will attend Boston University in the fall.
Kylie Pell, daughter of Ms. Debbie Pell of Wheeling, was named salutatorian of the senior class of 2020 for having the second highest upper school cumulative grade point average in the senior class. Kylie will attend West Virginia University in the fall.
