South Wheeling House Heavily Damaged by Fire

Wheeling Firefighters were called to a structure fire shortly after 2 a.m. Monday in the South Wheeling neighborhood of the city. When firefighters arrived, the rear of a side-by-side duplex at 3645 Chapline St. was engulfed in flames. Crews worked to extinguish the fire and were able to control it within 90 minutes. The structure was apparently vacant. The fire also destroyed a nearby recreational camper. No one was injured. Fire investigators are working to determine the cause of the blaze.
