NEW MARTINSVILLE - West Virginia native Dalton Haas is the new executive director of the Wetzel County Chamber of Commerce.
"I am honored to receive this position and be a part of such a great organization," Haas said. "I look forward to getting to know this beautiful part of West Virginia more, and creating new relationships with the businesses and people of Wetzel County."
Haas serves as the Senior USA Hockey Mid-American District Vice President of West
Virginia, and also as the President of The West Virginia Hockey League.
In addition to the work he does for hockey in the state, he also is very involved in his Parish of Our Lady of Lebanon Maronite Catholic Church and their Annual Lebanese Festival, serving on the Festival Committee. He also serves on the National Board of Directors for the National Apostolate of Maronites.
Haas also serves as the chairman of the Wheeling Wine Festival.
"With this new position I want to focus on having the Chamber serve as a major support system between our young people and businesses in this area. It is with extreme importance that we are helping to create opportunity for the young people, as well as promoting the businesses and helping them reach new heights," he said. "Not every high school student is meant for college, and workers in the trades are in high need.
"The technical center that is here, is going to be the hub for building up young, qualified men and women to work in the trades. Lastly, creating an Entrepreneurial Incubator Center is high on my to do list, so that we have somewhere for entrepreneurs to use for their new startups."
He said COVID-19 "has obviously been hard on everyone."
"My first goal that I want to immediately accomplish is to create a Business Task Force to work with business leaders in this area to hear their concerns and collaborate on what more we can all do to get businesses through this difficult time," Haas also said.
Haas will be starting work as the new executive director immediately.
