WHEELING -- Three people were arrested on felony drug charges late last week in three separate incidents.
Around 2:20 p.m. Thursday, police received a call for a welfare check at Wheeling Inn for a customer who had overstayed her check-out time and was unable to be contacted.
After cutting their way into the room with bolt cutters, police made contact with Alyssa Abrigg, 29, of Wheeling, who was still in bed, and allegedly saw several bags of methamphetamine strewn about the room.
Abrigg said she was deep asleep, not overdosing, and denied offered medical assistance. She was subsequently arrested.
Police say they found numerous items of drug paraphernalia in the room, including several bags of crystalline or powdery substances, which were not identified in police reports. Two bags contained a total of 3.21 grams of the crystalline substance, and another contained 6.94 grams. Two other bags, allegedly containing a powdery substance, contained 3.01 grams and 2.1 grams. Also found in the room was a phone, a meth smoking bowl, a scale, and a number of bags marked with various stickers, among other things.
Abrigg was charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, a felony. She remains lodged at the Northern Regional Jail in lieu of $25,000 bond.
In an unrelated arrest at 2 a.m. Thursday, police responded to a vehicle accident on Chapline Street, where they encountered Robin Lee Carr III, 21, of Wheeling, standing next to a car.
He told police that he was driving south when he struck a parked car hard enough to disable his car, which needed to be towed. When asked to get anything he needed out of his car, Carr allegedly grabbed a plastic bag containing blue and white pills out of his center console.
When pressed, Carr first said it was his phone, before allegedly saying "you caught me," and admitting that it was "over 100 xannies." Police later counted 224 Xanax pills in the bag as well as $996 in cash.
Carr was arrested and charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance. He posted $30,000 bond.
On Friday, officers with the Ohio Valley Drug Task Force arranged to make a controlled buy of $1,500 worth of crystal meth from Sylvester Walker, 25, of Maple Heights, Ohio. Walker was allegedly seen driving up and entering a Valley Grove residence on Friday.
When Walker left the residence, he was arrested and was allegedly seen on video providing the drugs to an informant and taking the money. Police say 48.39 grams of crystal meth were obtained in the buy.
Walker was charged with delivery of methamphetamine, a felony, and remains lodged in lieu of $25,000 bond.
