Elks Names Students of the Month for December, January

Wheeling Elks Lodge No. 28 has announced its Students of the Month for December and January. The December winners are Lily George and James Jin, both seniors at The Linsly School. For January, Lauren Marquart and Andrew Glass, both seniors at Wheeling Park High School, earned the honor.

George, the daughter of Ronee and Edward George of Wheeling, is a Senior Prefect and the Academic Committee Head Chair. She is senior class president, and a two-year captain of the girls soccer team. She is also the editor of the yearbook staff and a member of the Drug Free Club.

Jin, the son of Wenqing and Xin Jin of China, is a Senior Prefect and president of the Math and Ping Pong clubs.

He placed first in West Virginia in the National Spanish Exam, and is a graduate of the Wheeling Youth Leadership Program.

He also volunteers at both Peterson Rehabilitation Hospital and the Children’s Home Society of West Virginia.

Marquart, the daughter of Kersten and Phil Marquart of Triadelphia, is captain of the Wheeling Park speech and debate team, and a two-time class president. She is a four-year member of the Drug Free Clubs of America, and is a Stifel Prize winner. She also has volunteered at the former Ohio Valley Medical Center, and is a Safety Town volunteer at Wheeling Hospital.

Glass, the son of Lori and Shane Glass of Triadelphia, is a Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Award winner, a Stifel Award winner, and was a candidate for West Virginia Mountaineer Boys’ State. He was a team captain of both the football and soccer teams, and is a member of the Drug Free Clubs of America.
