All Green for Northern Panhandle on West Virginia COVID-19 Map

The entire Northern Panhandle was back to green on West Virginia's COVID-19 alert map Monday, once again joining most of the rest of the Mountain State in that category.

Hancock, Brooke, Ohio and Marshall counties all were green, the safest category on the Department of Health and Human Resources map. They were four of 34 counties in green on Monday's map.

One county, Jefferson, was red, the map's highest-risk category. Eight counties were orange, three were gold and nine were yellow.

Hancock County had an infection rate of 6.45 cases per 100,000 residents and a percent positivity of 1.81. Brooke County had an infection rate of 5.86 cases per 100,000 residents and a percent positivity of 1.48.

Ohio County had an infection rate of 15.87 cases per 100,000 residents and a percent positivity of 2.98. Marshall County had an infection rate of 14.97 cases per 100,000 residents and a percent positivity of 2.91.

The Wheeling-Ohio County Health Department reported nine new positive COVID-19 cases in its Monday night update. That brought the county's totals to 3,943 cases and 75 related deaths since the pandemic began. The Marshall County Health Department had not updated its website with its latest numbers as of 10 p.m. Monday.

In Ohio, the Belmont County Health Department reported 5,508 cases since the start of the pandemic, with 69 people hospitalized and a total of 105 related deaths, with the latest a man in his 80s.
