More than 300,000 West Virginians have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine.
The Department of Health and Human Resources reported on its website Tuesday that 300,768 people have received their first dose of vaccine. The state has received 325,745 doses so far, so 92.3 percent of those doses have been distributed.
The state also is nearing 200,000 fully vaccinated residents, as the DHHR reported that 197,759 have gotten their second doses. Healthcare workers have been able to squeeze some extra doses out of those vials. The state has received 194,790 second doses, giving out 101.5 percent of those.
The Wheeling-Ohio County Health Department reported just one new positive COVID-19 case in its Tuesday night update. That brought the county's totals to 3,807 cases and 65 deaths since the pandemic began.
The Marshall County Health Department reported five new confirmed positive cases and one new probable case in its Tuesday night update. That brought that county's totals to 2,363 confirmed cases, 638 probable cases, four hospitalizations and 62 associated deaths.
Three of the Northern Panhandle's four counties remained green, the safest category on the DHHR COVID-19 alert map, on Tuesday. Brooke, Ohio and Marshall counties enjoyed that designation, while Hancock County was yellow, the map's second-safest category.
Hancock County had an infection rate of 12.89 cases per 100,000 residents and a percent positivity of 3.38.
Brooke County had an infection rate of 6.51 cases per 100,000 residents and a percent positivity of 1.88.
Ohio County had an infection rate of 13.80 cases per 100,000 residents and a percent positivity of 2.29. Marshall County had an infection rate of 14.97 cases per 100,000 residents and a percent positivity of 2.41.
In Ohio, the Belmont County Health Department announced the county's 100th COVID-related death, a man in his 90s. There have been 5,317 cases since the pandemic's start, with 63 hospitalizations.
