Ohio County Health Officials Report No New COVID-19 Cases Thursday

Ohio County got a welcome respite as the Wheeling-Ohio County Health Department reported no new cases in its Thursday night update.

That kept the county's totals at 4,400 positive cases and 90 deaths since the pandemic began.

The Marshall County Health Department reported four new confirmed positive COVID cases and three new probable cases in its Thursday night update. The department is sending people to the Department of Health and Human Resources website for its latest totals, which were 2,524 confirmed positive cases, 944 probable cases and 77 related deaths since the pandemic began.

Three of the four Northern Panhandle counties -- Hancock, Brooke and Ohio -- were green, the safest category on the DHHR COVID-19 alert map Thursday. The fourth, Marshall, was orange, the second-highest-risk category.

Hancock County had an infection rate of 10.91 cases per 100,000 residents and a percent positivity of 2.97. Brooke County had an infection rate of 5.21 cases per 100,000 residents and a percent positivity of 1.27.

Ohio County had an infection rate of 12.07 cases per 100,000 residents and a percent positivity of 1.92. Marshall County had an infection rate of 28.07 cases per 100,000 residents and a percent positivity of 5.31.
