WVU Medicine Continuous Care Center in Wheeling Holds Talent Show

WHEELING -- Laughter and applause filled a second floor activity room at WVU Medicine Continuous Care Center on Friday afternoon, as both residents and employees put on a talent show as National Nursing Home Week came to a close.
Continuous Care Center Activities Coordinator Wendy Longwell said they hosted the talent show because everybody has been through so much over the past year while dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic.
"We've been one big family," said Longwell. "We've been here for one another throughout this pandemic, and we thought this was a great way to end Nursing Home Week and start into the summer (season)."
Longwell said the theme for Nursing Home Week this year was "Together Through the Seasons." She said the Continuous Care Center staff plans to hold a talent show every year as a way to conclude National Nursing Home Week at the center.
With everybody in attendance wearing face masks, Longwell said they hosted 10 separate small skits or musical shows as part of the talent show. Continuous Care Center Director Christine Tarr served as master of ceremonies for the event. She said the residents have been extremely excited about participating in the show all week.
"We've been having fun all week. We've had beach volleyball, and this is a great way to cap it off," Longwell added.
She said the staff works to provide a variety of activities each week at the center. "And this is just one of the special moments of the year," Longwell said.
