WVU Medicine Keeping Its Mask Rules in Place for Hospitals, Clinics

While mask mandates have been removed for individuals in West Virginia fully vaccinated from COVID-19, WVU Medicine is reminding patients and visitors that masks are still required in all of its hospitals and clinics.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced last week that fully vaccinated Americans -- those who are two weeks past the second-dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or two weeks past the single-dose Johnson and Johnson vaccine -- can resume activities without wearing a mask or physically distancing, except where required by laws, rules, and regulations, including local business and workplace guidelines.
Gov. Jim Justice followed suit by ending mask requirements for those fully vaccinated in the Mountain State.
According to the CDC, "These recommendations can help you make decisions about daily activities after you are fully vaccinated. They are not intended for healthcare settings."
At WVU Medicine, all patients and visitors above age 2 must wear a mask at all times and will be screened upon entering the facility.
The Marshall County Health Department reported four new probable COVID-19 cases in its Tuesday evening report. The department is sending people to the Department of Health and Human Resources website for its latest numbers, which were 2,530 positive cases, 953 probable cases and 77 related deaths since the pandemic began.
All four Northern Panhandle counties -- Hancock, Brooke, Ohio and Marshall -- were green on Tuesday's Department of Health and Human Resources COVID-19 alert map.
They were among 27 counties among West Virginia's 55 who were in the map's safest category.
