Paving Work Underway in Edgwood, Woodsdale Neighborhoods of Wheeling

With the $2.1 million Bedillion Lane sewer improvement project about 90% complete in Wheeling's Edgwood and Woodsdale neighborhoods, the streets affected by the project are being resurfaced this week, according to City Public Works Director Russell Jebbia.
In addition to a small section of National Road between Elm Street and Edgington Lane, crews with NLS Paving of St. Clairsville are milling and paving several neighborhood streets in that area of town.
Jebbia said the Bedillion Lane sewer improvement project is nearing completion and the paving crews are resurfacing sections of Elm Street, Poplar Avenue, Vista Avenue and other areas of the neighborhood affected by the project work. He said while most streets are getting a "total overlay" of paving "curb to curb," some areas such as Edgewood Street are being resurfaced over top of the work areas.
Jebbia said crews with James White Construction of Weirton are in the process of finishing up the last segment of the sewer line project near the intersection of Seibert Street and Carmel Road.
The extensive neighborhood Bedillion Lane sewer improvement project is expected to alleviate basement flooding and sewage backflow in various sections of that area following hard rains. The project began in early December along a section of National Road in the Edgwood area.
Since that time, construction work has weaved back through the neighborhood, causing temporary road closures and detours. The Bedillion Lane project is part of Phase III of the city's six-phase, 20-year sewer system improvement plan for different sections of the city.
