Toe Tappin’ Tuesdays Bring Live Music to Garden Park in Warwood
WHEELING — The outdoor summer concert season has finally returned after last year’s pandemic put things on pause, but crowds are back for fun in the sun — and in Warwood, that means Toe Tappin’ Tuesdays are back at Garden Park.
Presented by the city of Wheeling every year as part of its annual summer concert series, Toe Tappin’ Tuesdays kick off at 7 p.m. at Garden Park every other Tuesday night from June through August.
“Garden Park is a great asset to Warwood and the city of Wheeling,” said Vice Mayor Chad Thalman, councilman for the Ward 1 neighborhood. “Few municipalities have such an amenity. I’m happy to see our residents have the opportunity to enjoy the pool, playground, basketball court, baseball field and events held in the park.”
The Toe Tappin’ Tuesdays concerts are free and open to the public. They are sponsored by the city of Wheeling.
“City council has invested in the concert series as a way to give back to the community, and we plan to continue to do so for many years to come,” Thalman said. “The Warwood Farmers Market on Tuesday evenings has been a nice addition to the concert series.”
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the city of Wheeling’s summer concert season in 2020 was initially postponed to August, but then later canceled — much like all other community events in which people gather together.
“After a difficult year for everybody, I think most of our residents are glad the concert series has started back up and things are getting back to normal, post-COVID,” Thalman noted.
Vinyl Soul kicked off the Toe Tappin’ Tuesdays summer concert series on June 8. The next show this coming Tuesday, June 22, will feature the bluegrass sounds of Bill Gorby and the Musical Mercenaries.
Future Toe Tappin’ Tuesday acts will include MSM on July 6 and Seven South on July 20. The M-80s will take the state on Aug. 3, and Pocket Change will wrap up the season on Aug. 17.
“Right in the heart of Warwood, Garden Park is a great venue for the city’s summer entertainment series,” Michele Rejonis, marketing and communications specialist for the city of Wheeling, said. “We’re grateful for the bands who work with us every year to make the summer concerts a success, and it always pleases me to see the number of people who turn out for the shows.”
For many years, the city has sponsored live music events as part of its summer concert series. In addition to Toe Tappin’ Tuesdays at Garden Park in Warwood, the city also brings live music events to Heritage Port for Waterfront Wednesdays and to the Wheeling Park Amphitheater for Toe Tappin’ Tuesdays, Too — every other Tuesday of the month that are in between the Toe Tappin’ Tuesdays shows in Warwood. The city also hosts The Centre Market Summer Concert Series, sponsored by Main Street Bank, at 8 p.m. on the first and third Fridays of the month through September.

The Toe Tappin’ Tuesday concerts are family friendly. No alcohol is permitted at the events, and no smoking is permitted on any city property, by order of the Wheeling-Ohio County Health Board.
In August, the city’s popular Free Outdoor Movie Nights — which typically take place at Heritage Port — will wrap up for the season at Garden Park in Warwood for a showing of “Little Loopers” on Aug. 20.
All programs are subject to change without notice. In case of inclement weather, shows may be rescheduled or canceled.
