WHEELING -- Since kicking off another summer season at Garden Park this month, the Warwood Farmers Market offers something for the entire family every Tuesday evening.
Shoppers are welcome from 4-7 p.m. every Tuesday through Sept. 28 at Warwood Garden Park, as the farmers market offers a large variety of vendors, live entertainment and games for the children, according to farmer's market board member Julie Davis,
"It's really just a wonderful evening of fun in Garden Park and We're very lucky to have such a variety of vendors," Davis explained. "We have close to 30 vendors approved."
She said while all 30 vendors don't turn out every week, the market does get a "good showing" from that number week to week.David said with the summer growing season ramping up, vendors have more and more produce to choose from at their booths.
In addition to a wide assortment of produce and baked goods, Davis said visitors can expect to see vendors selling an assortment of arts and crafts, including paintings, pottery, jewelry and much more.
She said food concessions are also available each week and the Ohio County Virtual Lions Club non-profit organization hosts a lemonade stand. Picnic tables are positioned around the park grounds for folks to enjoy a meal.
"They have things like sloppy joes, pulled pork and veggie cups and things like that," Davis said, "so you can get your dinner and do your produce shopping for the week."
She said they also feature weekly games for the children, including a game with the farmers market garden gnome character "Woody," where kids can claim prizes.
Over the course of the summer, Davis said they plan to host several special guests, including Paws for a Cause and the Ohio County Animal Shelter representatives who will host pet adoption events at the market. In addition, the farmers market has a "safety day" planned with local police and fire departments.
Davis said they continue to host live entertainment each Tuesday evening throughout the summer. Last week, they featured the New Age Adenas and their eclectic mix of music.
