The Wheeling Symphony Orchestra is going to provide some soothing music to accompany an evening of yoga instruction to help heal the body.
WSO on the GO has teamed up with certified yoga instructor Jill Kloss Spangler for an evening of restorative yoga instruction at 6 p.m. Monday at Wheeling Heritage Port. Spangler will be joined by harpist Nuiko Wadden.
All ages and levels of experience are invited to take part. Participants should bring a mat or towel and water. The event is free and open to the public but donations to benefit the American Heart Association are encouraged.
"The WSO has been interested in connecting with the yoga community," says Betsy Delk, the WSO's Director of Advancement. "When Jill Spangler reached out about an opportunity to combine yoga and music to benefit the American Heart Association, it was easy to say 'yes.' All yogis and music lovers are invited to join us for a relaxing evening on the waterfront."
Spangler is one of the American Heart Association's Ohio Valley Woman of Impact Nominees. She and the other nominees are generating awareness of and donations for the American Heart Association. Jill is the Director of Nutrition and Diabetes Education at WVU Medicine Reynolds Memorial Hospital and is a certified fitness and yoga instructor.
Wadden frequently performs with the Wheeling Symphony Orchestra. She is the principal harpist of Pittsburgh Opera and Ballet Orchestras as well as the Des Moines Metro Opera. She is also a member of both the janus trio, based out of Brooklyn, and the International Contemporary Ensemble.
