Four Seasons Pool in Moundsville Still in Search of Staffers

While the immediate need for a weekday lifeguard has been handled, Moundsville's perennial pool is still in need of workers to fill out their numbers, especially with the recent introduction of the pool's splash pad.
Late in the summer, Moundsville's city manager Rick Healy had called for lifeguards, as many of the pool's staff had returned to school, retired, or otherwise been unavailable to supervise the daily water aerobics courses during the week. That position, Healy said Monday, was filled into the foreseeable future, but staffing concerns still saw the need for additional workers, particularly during weekends and evenings for events at the pool.
"The Monday to Friday daytime slot ... was the most difficult to fill, and we have a person who is doing that," he said. "The issue that we have now ... is that the people who work there, they get involved in other things. ... We still need Friday evenings, all day Saturday and Sundays, so we can continue to have our parties."
In addition to lifeguards, Healy said there's also high demand to fill the role of desk clerk. That position can be filled by anyone, without qualifications, while Healy said the city is considering providing training for potential lifeguards, if enough people show interest.
Currently, the pool employs four lifeguards and four clerks.
"We can arrange to have a class, and we're willing to do that at Four Seasons, if we get three or four people who are interested and want to do it, but don't have their certification," he said. "If you're already certified, that's the only certification you need, as long as it's currently.
"… We're really looking at what we can do next year, and ideally, hire some people this year over the winter who'll stay on with us through the summer," he added. "We are going to have some expanded hours because of the splash pad, so we're going to need more people next summer than in years past."
