Details Emerge in Monroe County Double Murder

JACOB WILSON

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office announced Monday that 38-year-old Jacob Wilson is accused of killing two people on Saturday.

Wilson, of Woodsfield, is charged with two counts of aggravated murder with gun specifications, two counts of tampering with evidence and two counts of abuse of a corpse.

Wilson allegedly shot to death 24-year-old Daniel E. Franzoi of Beallsville and 20-year-old Malakai Devon Curry of Caldwell.

According to a release from Sheriff Charles Black Jr., the sheriff’s office received a call around 10 p.m. Saturday in reference to two missing persons. The caller told dispatch that three men had left the residence to take trash to a dump site over the hill on the Wilson Farm, and only one of the men — Jacob Wilson — returned. Wilson then drove away in his truck.

The sheriff’s department and the Ohio Division of Wildlife arrived on scene and searched the family farm and dump area, where they discovered the bodies of Franzoi and Curry.

Both victims had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The victims’ bodies were transported to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office for autopsies.

While deputies were at the farm, additional deputies responded to Wilson’s residence in Woodsfield and arrested him outside the home.

Law enforcement obtained search warrants and collected evidence at multiple sites.

Evidence in the case is currently being processed for submission to the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation for DNA analysis and firearm comparison.
