Helping Heroes Gets $1,000 Clothing Donation

Helping Heroes Inc. received $1,000 worth of clothing from IC Care in recognition of veterans and their sacrifices and today's Veterans Day holiday.
IC Care presented Helping Heroes with the donation at its Wheeling office on Wednesday. The clothing donation, which consisted of 72 insulated flannel shirts, is aimed at helping the veterans stay warm this winter, said Tate Blanchard, director of marketing and community outreach for IC Care.
"Here at IC Care, we honor our veterans and their families every day. Our company is run by people who have all had our grandfathers serve in the U.S. military and we appreciate the sacrifices made by our veterans," Blanchard said in a news release. "Veteran's Day is just an extra special time for all of us to show our gratitude to the brave men and women who have protected our freedoms."
Helping Heroes Inc. is a local, non-profit organization that is run by and helps veterans in need. Based in Wheeling, it provides emergency housing for homeless veterans, offers transitional housing and has a food pantry.
Helping Heroes also helps veterans obtain VA services and benefits in addition to: financial assistance to those who qualify; housing placement; budgeting assistance; benefits guidance; job placement assistance; referrals to other agencies when needed; records requests and more.
Helping Heroes helps veterans in Ohio, Marshall, Brooke and Hancock counties, according to its website.
IC Care is a company that provides non-medical home care to local seniors who want to remain living in their homes. IC Care also helps veterans and their spouses receive funding from the VA to help pay for their home care needs.
"Helping Heroes is a hidden gem in our community when it comes to serving the needs of our local veteran population and we think making the donation to them will help to ensure these items get into the hands of the veteran community," Blanchard said in a news release.
The clothing donation was made possible with help from other companies such as Oil and Gas Safety Supply, he noted.
