New COVID-19 Cases Drop Again in Ohio County

Weekly COVID-19 case totals dropped once again in Ohio County. The Wheeling-Ohio County Health Department on Sunday reported 73 cases in the county since Oct. 31. That's down from 90 cases announced the week before.

Three of those cases are children under age 18. The department also announced two COVID-related deaths in that period.

The county will continue holding vaccination clinics this week at the old Michaels craft store at The Highlands. The clinic will be open Monday-Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. There also will be two school clinics to help parents be able to get their 5-11 year olds vaccinated. That group became eligible last week.

Those school clinics each will be held from 4-7 p.m. Bridge Street Middle School will host one on Wednesday and Madison Elementary will host one on Friday.

The Marshall County Health Department reported 21 confirmed positive cases and 24 probable cases between Oct. 30 and Thursday.

According to the Department of Health and Human Resources COVID-19 dashboard, there have been 4,635 confirmed cases, 1,574 probable cases and 108 related deaths in Ohio County, and 3,815 confirmed cases, 1,574 probable cases and 116 deaths in Marshall County since the pandemic began.

According to the latest DHHR COVID-19 alert map, Hancock County was red, the highest-risk category on the map, while Brooke and Marshall counties were orange, one rung above red. Ohio County was yellow, the map's second-safest category.
