Wheeling Health Right Renovations To Start Today

The anticipated expansion and renovation of the Wheeling Health Right's facility in South Wheeling is set to start today.
Contractors are going to start a $300,000 renovation of the dental clinictoday, and also begin opening the office currently used by Executive Director Kathie Brown. Excavation work to set the foundation for an addition to the building and drive-up pharmacy window is set to begin Jan. 17.
"We're making progress -- finally," Brown said.
She added that contractors have six months to complete the work, but that there is a lot of leeway built into that time.
"With all the supply chain issues, it's depending on when they can get stuff in," Brown said. "We're hoping it can be done sooner, but it is what it is. We will roll with it."
Wheeling Health Right recently received a donation for just over $8,000 from the Jeremy C. McCamic Family Foundation of Wheeling to assist in the building of its pharmacy drive-up. The foundation assists organizations with projects that help those with physical handicaps. The drive-up will make it easier for people who have difficulties getting out of their car and coming inside, Brown explained.
Wheeling Health Right plans to construct a drive-up pharmacy, and also add more space for dental operations and storage at the clinic, located at 61 29th St. in South Wheeling.
The current conference room at Wheeling Health Right will be turned into a second dental operatory area, and an additional storage room for needed personal protective equipment also will be placed there.
The project then includes the construction of a new conference room, as well as a drive up pharmacy window. The drive-in option will provide patients the options of picking up prescriptions without having to come inside.
After Health Right raised more than $120,000 for the work, the Ohio County Commission granted last April to provide the remaining $180,000 needed for the project.
