Karen Klamut Promoted to Assistant Superintendent of Marshall County Schools

The role of assistant superintendent for Marshall County Schools will be taken up by longtime administrator Karen Klamut beginning this summer.
Klamut has been with the school district for more than 25 years in various roles, teaching both general and special education, serving as principal of Central Elementary School for 10 years before being promoted to the central office as an administrator.
She has served as the county's director of student services for the past eight years.
Klamut will take over for curriculum director and assistant superintendent Woody Yoder, who is retiring on June 30. Klamut said the county office staff is a close-knit team, and that her current goals for the role are to continue pursuing the same ones the faculty have set for themselves.
"As a team here at Marshall County Schools office, we all work together, and of course there's big shoes to fill with Mr. Yoder leaving, but he's retiring, and so it is an opportunity for us to continue with the goals we've all set," Klamut said.
Yoder's personality, she said, is more laid back than her own, and Klamut said she hopes to settle into a calmer role as an administrator.
"I watch him frequently as he's dealing with different situations and often think, 'I need to be like that.' A little calmer, in that (role), can go a long way," Klamut said. "It's a pleasure to continue my career after 25 years, and I'm just excited for this new opportunity."
One thing Klamut said she was particularly proud of with her tenure at Marshall County Schools is the strong network of colleagues and supporters she's built up.
"I've been fortunate, in all the positions I've been, since being principal at Central to coming here, I think it's to be noted that I have surrounded themselves -- or they have surrounded themselves around me -- with great people, and that makes your job so much easier as a leader or administrator," she added.
"Those people that you have around you, willing to try what needs to be tried, or to do the things necessary for the students. I have been blessed every step of the way to have been surrounded with the great people I work with."
