‘Match Madness’ United Way Fundraiser Nears End

The United Way of the Upper Ohio Valley continues to take donations for its second annual “Match Madness” promotion. All donations collected in the month of March will be matched by the Bordas & Bordas law firm up to $15,000. The United Way is still trying to reach that $15,000 goal.

“This promotion doubles your donation and last year we surpassed our goal,” said Jessica Rine, executive director of the United Way of the Upper Ohio Valley. “We are hoping to see the same success this year.”

The inaugural “Match Madness” partnership last year helped the organization raise more than $33,000 for the month of March. Donors sent in more than $18,000 and the law firm kicked in another $15,000. In previous years, March donations averaged about $5,000.

This year’s campaign is themed “Give Where You Live” because donations to the United Way stay local. The United Way funds more than 30 programs that support community members in Brooke, Ohio, Marshall, Wetzel, Tyler and Belmont counties. Beyond that, the United Way is at the forefront of advocating for nonprofit organizations in the Ohio Valley, promoting giving and encouraging volunteerism.

“Bordas & Bordas is proud to partner with the United Way of the Upper Ohio Valley for Match Madness,” said Jamie Bordas, managing partner of Bordas & Bordas. “Giving back to our community is very important and we look forward to matching the donations made throughout the month.”

To participate in this matching donation opportunity, make a donation at UnitedWayUOV.org, the United Way of the Upper Ohio Valley PayPal account or send a check to 1307 Chapline St. Wheeling, WV, 26003.
