‘Napoleon Dynamite’ Screening at Capitol Theatre Will Feature Q&A With Movie’s Stars

WHEELING – The Capitol Theatre is set to host a special movie event that will feature a Q&A session with two of the film’s stars.

The theater is set to show “Napoleon Dynamite” at 8 p.m. May 21. Tickets for the show go on sale April 1, said Denny Magruder, executive director of the Wheeling Area Sports and Entertainment Authority.

Magruder said following the movie, lead actors Jon Heder and Efren Ramirez will be on stage to have a question-and-answer session with the moviegoers.

“It’s a different approach,” Magruder said of the event. “I don’t know if it’s nationwide. The promoter, Dusty Guitars, is trying it in Wheeling. Will it grow and become a national act? … It could by the time this plays.”

Magruder said the Capitol Theatre does not usually show movies, but this event is extra special because of the Q&A session.

Magruder said the theater tends not to schedule movies because it wants to keep dates open for the many live acts that use the venue. It is also home to the Wheeling Symphony Orchestra.

“It’s an interesting twist. It’s a nice offering for the 20- and 30-somethings,” he said. “We have a lot of older doo-wop shows, so this is something for the younger audience. But our senior friends can come, too,” he said.

Magruder said he has seen clips of the film in the past and thought it was very funny. He said he plans to watch it before the event comes to Wheeling.

The 2004 flick starring Jon Heder as Napoleon Dynamite and Efren Ramirez as Pedro has become a cult classic. IMDB.com describes the comedy this way: “A listless and alienated teenager (Napoleon Dynamite) decides to help his new friend (Pedro) win the class presidency in their small western high school, while he must deal with his bizarre family life back home.”

Tickets for the movie event can be purchased at www.capitoltheatrewheeling.com. Base price tickets start at $15.75.

Starting at $2.99/week.
