Applications Being Accepted for Next “Show of Hands” Event in Wheeling

WHEELING -- Wheeling Heritage has announced it is now accepting applications for the next "Show of Hands" business competition.
Aspiring entrepreneurs and existing business owners needing a financial jump start to their efforts can get their chance to present their plans before an audience of "investors" at the next Show of Hands competition, which is set for June 29, according to Alexandra Panas, communications and development director for Wheeling Heritage.
Wheeling Heritage is accepting applications from potential presenters now through May 29. Four finalists will be selected to make their sales pitches.
Applications can be downloaded at wheelingheritage.org/show-of-hands.
The winner of the event is guaranteed to take home at least $4,000, plus the entry money paid by those coming to the event.
Attendees pay $5 at the door for dinner and a ballot providing them the opportunity to vote on presenters.
The Show of Hands events are now back to being in-person events after going virtual in 2020 and 2021.
The last Show of Hands Event on March 30 was in-person, and it saw DeSean James, owner of the Backyard Escapes landscaping company, take home $4,470. He said he intended to purchase an additional mower with the money.
