Marshall County Students Ready To Show Off Their Green Thumbs

Marshall County's students have been getting their hands dirty growing plants for their schools' agricultural programs.
Greenhouses at Cameron High School, John Marshall High School, Moundsville Middle School and Sherrard Middle School are blooming with life in the spring, as students work to raise nurseries of flowers and vegetables. Moundsville Middle School teacher Cala Curtis said the greenhouse has been in use since November raising geraniums, and this semester the students have been busy growing hundreds of plants.
Curtis said more than 500 flower plugs needed to be potted the day they got them from Bob's Nursery.
"You had to plant them right away, since they dry out really easily because there's not much soil. That day we got them, we were literally in the greenhouse all day, nonstop," she said. "Then we started our veggies from seed."
