MOUNDSVILLE -- An Ohio Valley favorite has a new location as of Tuesday afternoon, as Osaka Hibachi, Sushi & Bar opened its new location at the north end of Moundsville.
A ribbon cutting ceremony was attended by dozens of representatives from Moundsville, the Marshall and Ohio county chambers of commerce, and more to join owners, Wing Wang and his wife Linda Lin in welcoming the hungry to their restaurant. Osaka Steak House also operates locally out of the Ohio Valley Mall in St. Clairsville.
Both owners said they were feeling great after the brief ceremony, both excited to see the restaurant grow, hopefully the first of several new enterprises to join Moundsville.
"I'm so happy we're here," Lin said.
"We hope this restaurant can be a new flavor in Moundsville, and everyone can come in and try it and find something they like."
"We're thrilled that we could come down to Moundsville," Wang said. "Moundsville is going to grow with new businesses. It'll be like a new city."
Scott Reager, executive director of the Marshall County Chamber of Commerce, said the building, which was once a Pizza Hut, has been closed for more than a year.
Work to renovate the pizzeria into a Japanese restaurant began in the fall.
"It's exciting. It's a different kind of (restaurant) -- it's not just another fast food franchise," Reager said.
"We've been waiting for it to happen, it seems like it's taken a long time, but everyone's excited and I think they'll do real well."
