Wheeling Central Catholic High School Graduates 64

Top Honors from the CCHS 2022 Graduation were awarded to (left to right) Mater Dei recipient Ben Foster; Principal Rebecca Sancomb; valedictorian Brandon Dick and salutatorian Danielle Agcaoili.

Central Catholic High School held its graduation ceremony Saturday in the CCHS Athletic Complex located adjacent to the main campus. Parents, families, CCHS staff, alumni and friends gathered to honor the 64 graduates.

The valedictorian for the Class of 2022 is Brandon Dick. The son of Brent Dick and Heather Jorris, Brandon hails from Woodsfield, Ohio and is a member of St. Sylvester Church. Brandon plans to attend the University of California at Berkeley this fall, where he will major in chemical

engineering.

The salutatorian of the class is Danielle Agcaoili, the daughter of Dr. Demetrio and Grace Agcaoili of Wheeling and is a member of St. Michael Parish. She is attending the University of California at Los Angeles this fall and will major in biochemistry.

Rounding out the Top 20 in alphabetical order are: Molly Brown, Nathan Dieffenbaugher, John Emmerth, Sara Gruber, Kelcie Herrmann, Sydney Kudlak, Madalyn Moore, Austin Nestor, Alexa Oliver, Kaelyn Oliver, Ryan Reasbeck, Katherine Ryncarz, Alexandra Sarras, Rubie Seng, Christine Smith, Nathan Stryker, Andrew Tiu and Brock Thomas Woods.

Several special awards were also presented at the ceremony. Scholastic Honors were presented to: Morgan Howard (Art), Molly Brown (English & Social Studies), Sydney Kudlak (French), Brandon Dick (Math & Science) Dominic Cipriani (Religion) and Alexandra Sarras (Spanish). Andrew Tiu received the Fr. Robert Arkle Memorial Award in English Literature and CCHS School Spirit Awards were presented to Marta Ghigo and Nathan Dieffenbaugher.

The Paul Volpe Memorial Scholarship, awarded to the student who demonstrates individual decision-making, academic tenacity and personal courage, was presented to Peyton Carpenter. Benjamin Foster received the prestigious Mater Dei Award, presented to the student who displays outstanding Christian spirituality, leadership, wholesomeness and service by following the example of Mary.

Also recognized were Andrew Tiu, who was the recipient of the Aquinas Medal, which is the highest honor any student in a Catholic school can receive and St. Sebastian Award winners Danielle Agcaoili and Austin Nestor.
