Families throughout the region will put together campsites for a good cause Friday, benefitting Youth Services System.

The third annual CampOut For A Cause virtual fundraiser will culminate with an entertainment stream across social media at 6 p.m. on Friday Community members raise money and earn prizes for hitting fundraising goals for this virtual event, which encourages participants to camp out in their living rooms, yards, the woods, or wherever they prefer Friday evening while enjoying the entertainment stream.

The event was started three years ago during the COVID-19 pandemic as a safe way to get the community involved in fundraising for YSS’s various programs that support youth and families throughout the Ohio Valley and beyond.

“It’s definitely a unique event, and we hope that the feeling of camping out while enjoying the

entertainment stream will bring a sense of togetherness to the participants,” said YSS Digital Media & Communications Coordinator Tucker Riggleman. “We’re really excited about all of the amazing performers we have lined up for this year’s CampOut.”

The entertainment stream features exclusive performances from local and regional musicians, poets, high school bands and more. Notable performers this year include former America’s Got Talent winner Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr., and West Virginia Poet Laureate Marc Harshman. The stream will be broadcast on YSS’s Facebook and YouTube accounts.

There is still time to create or join a COFAC fundraising team and earn prizes like YSS flashlights, camping mugs, t-shirts and more. Proceeds from COFAC will benefit YSS programs such as their Emergency Youth Shelters, Recovery Homes, and Winter Freeze Shelter, just to name a few.
