A local financial firm on National Road is hoping to keep its momentum going into the future.

Rohrig Financial opened its doors on National Road last June, but the Wheeling Area Chamber of Commerce celebrated the young business with a ceremonial ribbon-cutting Wednesday morning outside its office in Echo Manor.

Rohrig Financial President Shawn Rohrig joined LPL Financial and opened his company last year after 10 years working at Hazlett, Burt & Watson. He joined that company as a financial advisor in 2011 and became a certified financial planner for the group in 2018.

Prior to that, the lifelong Wheeling resident worked as a registered representative with First Investors in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, and with the Scheeren Wealth Management Group at Wells Fargo Advisors in Wheeling.

The Bethany College graduate now offers financial advice and consultation on financial planning, investments and retirement planning to local residents.

Rohrig said business had been strong in his company's first year, with good retention among clients. He appreciated Wednesday's ribbon-cutting as a congratulations on his first year in business.

He plans on being in business for many more.

"It's been good," he said. "We've had a good first year retaining our clients, and we look forward to serving a lot more in the future."
