WinShape Kids Camp Happening at Bridge Street Middle School

By SHELLEY HANSON 2 min read

A Christian summer day camp is being held at Bridge Street Middle School this week offering children fun coupled with positive messages about God.

Named WinShape Camp, the event is being hosted at the Elm Grove school each day this week with campers getting to participate in a variety of outdoor games and indoor activities. They also get to experience lively church services set up in the school's gymnasium.

Jules Mauldin, volunteer director for WinShape Camps, said there are 138 children participating in the camp. The campers are broken down into smaller groups to make activities and learning easier.

She noted since not all children learn the same way there are different types of activities that the children can also choose to do more of as the week progresses.

"It's a Christian camp. ... Everything really comes back to God," she said.

This is the first WinShape camp to be held in West Virginia. WinShape is an outreach of the Chick-fil-A company. Chick-fil-A partnered with Vineyard Church to bring the camp to Wheeling.

"WinShape Camps for Communities brings the ultimate day camp right to your neighborhood, combining fun, faith and friendship into an action-packed week," according to the company's website.

"Campers ... cultivate their God-given skills and talents in a mix of indoor and outdoor moments, physical activity and creative play, with epic adventures at camp all day and sleeping soundly back at home at night."

At the end of week the campers and their families will be treated to Chick-fil-A meals.
