West Liberty University May Enlist Outside Help in Presidential Search

WEST LIBERTY -- The committee charged with finding West Liberty's next president voted Friday to consider a paid professional search firm to aid in the process.
WLU's Presidential Search Committee met Friday afternoon in the university's Shaw Hall, adding three new members on top of its search firm discussion.
Discussion about a firm began with examining the value of a paid search firm and the method of funding it. The requirement of a request for proposal was also discussed. A motion to engage a paid professional search firm passed unanimously.
The committee also added three members: faculty representative Keith Bell, professor of criminal justice; dean representative Karen Kettler, dean of the College of Sciences; and staff representative, Chris McPherson, director of the Learning & Student Development Center. That brought the total committee membership to 18.
The group also is considering creating a three-person subcommittee to handle some of the business of the full committee. The subcommittee would offer assistance in a speedier fashion than calling the entire board together.
Also, the result of the campus-wide surveys distributed via email earlier this week will be shared with the entire search committee in the near future.
