From STAFF REPORTS
A new youth center in Moundsville opened its doors Saturday. The Future of Moundsville Youth Center cut the ribbon to make its debut Saturday afternoon.
The center is housed in the former Solid Rock Baptist Church at 1310 Second St. in Moundsville. Its goal is to give adolescents and teens a safe, fun place to hang out, play games, do homework and socialize. The center will also be structured to help teach the youth to be responsible and helpful.
Waves of people toured the center Saturday afternoon and were treated to lunch from Bob’s Lunch and donuts from Quality Bakery.
The first floor will feature a homework area, a kitchen, computer center, music room and a quiet room. Once a week the center will have leadership lessons on how to fill out job applications, write resumes, handle job interviews and more. Snacks will be offered to those in attendance. There is no cost to visit.
