The Hooverson Heights Fire Department and other first responders were called to a structure fire near Eldersville Road and Brooke Lane at about 10 a.m. Sunday.
Residents of the single-story home and their pet dog and cat were reported unharmed, but chickens kept by them were lost.
The extent of damage to the home and the cause of the fire weren't clear.
The Brooke County Emergency Management Agency provided a warming facility for the firefighters, who also were assisted by the Brooke County Sheriff's Department.
