Woman Accused of Shooting Man in Face on New Year’s Eve in Monroe County

A Paden City woman has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly shooting a man in the face on New Year’s eve in Monroe County.

At around 5:15 a.m. Dec. 31, the Monroe County 911 received a call advising that David Boggs of Cameron, Ohio had been shot in the face, according to a release from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

29-year-old Makiah Anderson, who was named the suspect, had fled the scene prior to law enforcement arriving.

The Monroe County road units and detective unit were the first on scene, providing first aid to Boggs until medics arrived.

The sheriff’s office deployed a drone and located Anderson hiding behind a building next to debris. She was transported to the Monroe County Jail.

Anderson has been charged with attempted murder, felonious assault, obstructing justice, illegal conveyance in a jail, and possession of drug abuse instruments.

As of Tuesday, Sheriff Charles Black Jr. said Boggs remains hospitalized due to the injuries he sustained.
