Bethany College and Northeast Ohio Medical University have come together to help Bethany students walk a clearer path to NEOMED’s College of Pharmacy.

The two schools announced Tuesday they will enter an articulation agreement that allows Bethany chemistry and biochemistry students to apply for early assurance to the NEOMED College of Pharmacy’s Pharm.D program. Students can apply for early assurance to the Rootstown, Ohio, school after completing 60 prerequisite credits at Bethany.

Only students who have been granted Early Assurance to the program will have a seat held for them for the year they wish to begin study.

“At Bethany College, we are laser-focused on providing our students exceptional return on their investment through partnerships like the one we’re announcing with NEOMED,” said Bethany President Jamie Caridi. “Through this agreement, our students can pursue a Doctor of Pharmacy degree in an accelerated pathway.

“In the end, our students will save time and money by receiving an in-demand credential with strong earnings power,” Caridi added. “I am grateful to NEOMED’s President Dr. John Langell and Dean of Pharmacy Dr. Richard Kasmer for working with us on this exciting new partnership.”

NEOMED and Bethany College will collaborate to offer an appropriate number and array of pre-admission and pharmacy career counseling opportunities for prospective and current students at Bethany College. Admission to the NEOMED College of Pharmacy does not require that students possess a completed degree; rather, they must complete prescribed pre-professional prerequisite coursework.

Students may be in the process of completing this coursework when they apply to NEOMED, but admission is contingent upon successful completion and meeting admission standards.

“The articulation agreement with NEOMED is a wonderful opportunity for our students considering pursuing a Pharm.D.,” says Provost and Dean of Faculty Dr. Anju Ramjee. “The agreement allows our students to apply for the program after completing the required prerequisites at Bethany. Our chemistry students will be able to pursue their graduate studies in an extremely competitive field, and prospective students will be able to consider Bethany knowing that they have a pathway for doctoral studies through our many articulation agreements.”

“I am especially proud to become a partner institution with the College of Pharmacy at NEOMED, being the only private school partner in their portfolio,” says Vice President for Enrollment Management Dana Bearer. “Their confidence in our pre-professional curriculum is humbling, and this pathway to the Pharm.D. credential is a tremendous opportunity for our aspiring pharmacists.”
