Standout Educators in Marshall County Receive Recognition

Two of Marshall County Schools' educators were recognized for their recent state awards during Tuesday's Marshall County Board of Education meeting.
The West Virginia Elementary School Counselor of the Year, Jenna Dompa, was congratulated for her success. She is Central Elementary School's counselor. She recently received the honor from the West Virginia School Counselor Association during the association's conference in Morgantown.
Washington Lands Elementary School music teacher Eli Lambie, who was named the West Virginia Music Teacher of the Year, also received praise during the meeting. Lambie could not attend the meeting because he was flying back home from a trip to California, said board President John Miller.
Both Dompa and Lambie were given letters of recognition from U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., read aloud by his regional coordinator, Roseann Ferro.
In his letter to Dompa, Manchin wrote that school counselors "are some of our best role models of adaptability and resilience."
"Jenna displays a wonderful example of how we should guide our students to prepare them for the bright future that lies ahead," he wrote.
Manchin notes that as a counselor Dompa takes on the burdens of those around her with support and humility.
"Thank you for sharing your skills with the world to inspire the leaders of tomorrow. I am truly grateful for your commitment to the people of our great state and wish you the best of luck in the future.
"Keep up the terrific work," Manchin said.
In his letter about Lambie, Manchin said Lambie "is a magnificent example of how teachers should always strive to motivate and encourage the next generation."
"His students and peers look to him for his knowledge, skills and positive spirit. There is no doubt he will continue to leave a significant, lasting impression on the countless lives he touches," Manchin wrote.
"Thank you for sharing your passion for music with the world to inspire the leaders of tomorrow."
